ElekTex® Sensing
ElekTex®, our core technology is a laminate of fabric layers
forming a highly flexible touch sensor that is only 0.6mm thick.
The sensor can be tailored to suit the application and produced
in any size from a postage stamp to a bedspread!
In simple terms, an ElekTex® sensor can detect where it is
being pressed and to a degree how hard it is being pressed. It
does this by evaluating X, Y and Z axis measurements across and
through the fabric sensor, using simple electronics and software.
This means that the sensor's analogue output can be used to recognise
contact, movement and gestures. For more basic functions the ElekTex®
sensor can also be used as a soft fabric switch.
The following diagram is a simplified illustration of ElekTex®'s
multi-layered fabric construction.

What are the main features of ElekTex®?
An ElekTex® sensor is 100% fabric; even the connections are
made using conductive fabric ribbon cables.
The sensor is incredibly durable, it can be washed, crumpled,
punctured, even driven over and still it will work.
ElekTex® is easily integrated into any existing product assembly.
It can be stitched, stapled or glued in place making it very easy
to fit.
All ElekTex® sensors are washable and can be made waterproof
if required, allowing the sensor to be fully integrated into products.
ElekTex® sensors require very little actuation force, and
respond instantly making them highly sensitive and accurate. This
response can be 'tuned' to suit the application.
As a highly flexible fabric, ElekTex® can be fitted around
curved surfaces or placed discretely in product assemblies.
Other benefits that ElekTex® offers include its thin, lightweight
construction. It is also breathable, pierce resistant and semi-translucent.
These properties make ElekTex® an incredibly versatile and
unique technology, which Eleksen are able to offer as a new and
innovative product solution for a wide range of applications.
